About Me

For the past 25 years, I have been in the teaching field in some capacity. Working with children is my passion and it makes me smile! I enjoy fostering their general curiosity for learning and helping them to unlock the code of reading. My goal is to make reading and writing become an enjoyable process for every student.
I hold a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential and a degree in Child Development. Besides teaching in the classroom, I have also had the privilege of homeschooling my own three children for over 10 years.
I am currently a Certified Teacher in the Slingerland© Multisensory Approach, which is an Orton-Gillingham-based method for reading instruction and intervention. I am also certified through the International Dyslexia Association as a Structured Literacy/ Dyslexia Interventionist. I run my private practice from my cozy San Jose office, where students, Kindergarten through High School, come for tutoring sessions. Along with the Slingerland© Method, I also utilize Lindamood Bell's LiPs Program for children struggling with basic sounds, and the Connect To Comprehension program by Lynn Givens, which dives deep into the components of reading, and higher-order thinking for understanding.
